The officers and ordinary seafarers can pass preparation, retraining, refresh and updating of certificates with the use of the special simulators and application of the newest educational computer technologies in accordance with STCW 78/95, national requests of shipowner’s companies at the following centers:

  1. Training and certifying centre of seafarers of the Odessa State Maritime Academy
  2. Izmail Maritime Training Centre
  3. Training simulator centre ”Lesozavodsk”

Training and certifying centre of seafarers of the Odessa State Maritime Academy

is implemented in compliance with the national and international requirements and, in particular, they are based on the Regulations of STCW 78 International Convention, as amended in 1995.Maritime Training Centre Quality System Certified by DNV and Bureau Veritas Quality International Rules for Maritime Training Centres. MTC Quality System Certified by Ukrainian Maritime Registry of Shipping. Some of the courses are approved by Panama and Liberia Authority Resolution. "Izmail Maritime Training Centre"

was established and performs its activities in compliance with the existing Laws of the Ukraine. Its aims are to meet the requirements of individuals, institutions and companies in training and further training on board shipping personnel employed with both Ukrainian and foreign sea-going and river vessels as well as supplying other relevant services mentioned under the Centre's scope of activities.

The Centre was established on August 20th , 1998 with the purposes to implement qualified training and additional training shipping personnel on board. Programs within the Centre's Curriculum are scheduled and implemented in compliance with the national and international requirements and, in particular, they are based on the Regulations of STCW 78 International Convention, as amended in 1995, DNV Regulations concerning the MTCs and the Rules on Quality Management applicable within the institutions dealing with marine experts training of Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping, hereinafter referred to as (RS Regulations).

Izmail Maritime Training Centre is currently dealing with the seafarers' training within the framework of the following courses:

  • introductory courses for entire officers' staff prior certificates exchange or obtaining Endorsement with competence assessment prior the assessment by State Qualification Commissions (STCW 78/95 Regulations 11/1, II/2, 111/1, III/2, IV/2);
  • introductory courses to prepare for the assessment by State Qualification Commissions of ratings of all the specialities (STCW 78/95, Regulations L.II/4, A.III/4);
  • additional training courses of the Chief and Second Engineers in compliance with minimum STCW 78/95 requirements provided for the function "Electric Equipment and Electronic Facilities and Control Systems" (STCW 78/95)
  • Radar Observation and Plotting
  • Automatic Radar Plotting Aids (ARPA, IMO Resolution L.482 (XII);
  • Course "Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Sea" ( IMO Course Model 1.10 "Hazardous, Noxious and Harmful Goods");
  • Personal Computer Users' Course (with issuance of International Standard Certificate);
  • Extended Special Training Courses in International Safety Managemeent Code (ISM Code).
